Snack Time at the Academy is a series of quick lessons for Designers On-the-Go!! Snack Times are 15- to 30-minute-long webinar style discussions. In this week's Snack Time, we will discuss the principles behind the requirements for adjusting fittings in NFPA 13.
There are few people in the industry that understand exactly why we change the lengths of fittings when they are on Dry and Preaction Systems and when they are on pipe that is not Schedule 40 black steel. The formulas and factors for modifying equivalent lengths are found in chapter 188.8.131.52.3 of the 2019 edition of NFPA 13.
