Snack Time at the Academy is a series of quick lessons for Designers On-the-Go!! Snack Times are 15- to 30-minute-long webinar style discussions. In this week's Snack Time, we will discuss the remote area increase for “concealed spaces” where sprinklers are not required.

The Occupancy Hazard Approach, found in chapter 19.3.3.1.5 of the 2019 edition of NFPA 13, requires certain unsprinklered concealed spaces to be calculated using a 3,000 ft2 remote area. We will learn which of those spaces from NFPA 13 Chapter 9.2.1 will need to meet this requirement. This is the last presentation in the “Concealed Spaces” series.
