How to Review and Approve Calculations, July 23-25, 2018
Join us for three days as we learn what to look for when reviewing hydraulic calculations. This series of classes will help you understand calculation reports and determine whether they have been conducted correctly.
Day 1: Hazards, Remote Areas, Densities - 3:00 - 5:00 PM CDT
We will discuss the different occupancies found in NFPA 13, including the Classification of Storage Commodities. We will walk through examples and determine remote areas using the different methods in NFPA 13. We will find which densities would apply to each example.
Day 2: Flow and Pressure at EACH Sprinkler - 3:00 - 5:00 PM CDT
We will answer the question, “What is the maximum spacing for sprinklers?” We will determine the spacing for system calculations. We will discuss the required flow and pressure from a sprinkler. We will use a real-world plan to answer the question, “Do the calculations meet the minimum requirements at each sprinkler?”
Day 3: Reading the Data on Reports - 3:00 - 5:00 PM CDT
We will discuss the information appearing on a computer-generated calculation report for a real-world project. Understanding this data will make it possible for you to improve your review and approval process. You will receive a checklist for reviewing calculations.
